"Mountain
Monster" is what you should call this beast - Jim
has made so many modifications on his very impressive Manx type duner.
If you look at the image to the right, you can see the nice light set
he transplanted from a piece of heavy equipment. You can also see a
heavy duty front bumper he hand built. It is more than a bumper, but it
takes a closer look. He has built into the front bumper, a tool box
that houses a power winch.

This
view does a fair job of showing why Jim's rig can get around so well in
the mountains... CLEARANCE!!! His choice of tires always uses a
very agressive tred design and pretty good highth. Jim
has built in all these attributes to give him
confidentce anywhere he decides to go. A full roll cage makes sure his
family is safe at all times.

If
you look between the wheels, just under the body edge and above the
brush guard, you can see his high lift jack. It actually doubles as
protection from side impact... another feature meant to protect his
family. Notice the apparent size of this rig. It looks huge next to its
two cousins.

In its role as a
true family fun car, Jim's "Mountain Buggy" can be a pussy cat too.
Here you
can see Jim, Lenette and two of their grandchildren in Eureka's 2005
Rhododendron Festival Parade. Like the rest of the VWs in the parade,
Jim's car was a hit.
