Gold
Bug - Andy Banks' Gold Bug is a 1958 limited edition Gold sedan.
It has a totally original interior - yup... that's what I said...
"Original!"
Take a look at this incredible find. Stored in a barn, right across the
street from Andy, this little beauty came out with little work needed.
Look at the back seat - and the headliner - all original.
Below is a shot of that bone stock interior. Front seats, door panels,
everything is stock, original stuff. Boy are we jealous!
We inspected the car when we first met Andy and could not believe the
condition. Even the paint under the floor mat, carpet and battery box
was shiny, original black paint, just like it rolled off the show room
floor. The entire pan... shiny black paint... "Original, shiny black
paint..!" ...and not a dent in it. Unbelievable. This is
truly, one of those, "Stories you only here about and wish you could
live."

Here's the story as told by Andy himself: We had just recently moved to Eureka and were getting to know our neighbors. One of them, the widow across the street, ask me to help her with a small chore in her barn. I don't remember what the chore was, but I said I would be glad to help out. She opened the door of this big red barn and there it was... a 1958 bug, just like my first ever new car, and the one I had courted my wife in 46 years ago. She said it had been at their cabin in Oregon for when they went there for summer vacation, two or three weeks each year. Since her husband died the previous year, she had no desire to keep it. I asked if she would sell it to me. She said it would save her from having to put it in the paper.
The bumpers were rusty and it did have a fuel leak, so I took it to Bill’s VW Repair in Eureka, CA to fix where he also adjusted the brakes and valves. It has been running like a top ever since. The interior is like new. My neighbor, the widow, said the 61,000 miles on the odometer was all the miles it ran. My guess is that it is about 90% original. I also put on new windshield wipers.

Here's
the little gold gem looking out toward the farm that she rested on for
so many years. Beautiful setting for a beautiful car.

Doesn't matter
what angle you look at her from... she's just sweet! Looks like Andy
has got the market on Good Karma.

She's got a nice
hinie too! No dents, no booboos anywhere.
